Sasha

My name is Sasha. Since my early childhood, I was brought up in orphanages. My parents abandoned me when I was three years old, and because of that, a family’s warmth and kindness were foreign to me. Life in the orphanage taught me to survive by means of brutality and sin, which became a huge barrier between me and people—not to mention God. When I was in 5th grade, I heard about God for the first time. Christians visited our orphanage and taught Bible lessons. Every year we had Little Lambs summer camps. For three months, they worked with me, and I began to experience the love of God through the behavior of Christians. Little by little, and their seed sown with tears and great effort gave its fruit—my repentance. On April 2, 1998 I repented, and in 2000 I was baptized. Today I have the great privilege to serve children like myself. This past summer was my fourth summer working in Little Lambs camps. I will always remember where God rescued me from, and I will help others get out as well. Equipped with God’s love, I will be successful.

My friends, when you worked with me you probably thought there was no hope for my behavior. But today I can tell anybody—without a shadow of a doubt—that it pays to go and cry, to get tired and hungry, and suffer disrespect. It pays to give up the comforts of our homes and be laughed at. It pays to give your all so that those who have not known any joy could laugh, and those who are hungry may be fed God’s truth. You do this so children will realize that they are unique and special to God; and so they will become bearers of God’s Salvation to at least one needy soul. One heart on fire kindles another. One good deed can change a whole life of another. Who wants to become this burning heart? Who want to do this good deed?  “Who will go for us?”  Asks the Lord, our God.  Isaiah 6:8

A year ago God opened a door for me to go Uganda, Africa with YWM. I help to take care of aid children. It is my privilege to work and to be used by God. Oh what a wonderful God we have!
